Our Alaska cruise itinerary only allotted 4 hours (8:00pm to 11:59pm…) for our docking in Victoria, BC in order to satisfy tax rules (according to the Passenger Vessel Services Act, all foreign ships must dock at a foreign country at least once during the cruise). Unfortunately, our visit to Victoria was cut even shorter by a late arrival into port. There are cruise shuttles to transport guests from the cruise terminal to downtown Victoria, but we opted to walk. We set out on a quick (but boring) 15 minute speed-walk (only four hours in this port!) to get to Fisherman’s Wharf. This area looked cute and I would have enjoyed exploring it more, but Fisherman’s Wharf closed at 9pm so we had only a couple of minutes to look around. Continuing on was an additional 25 minute walk to finally arrive in Downtown Victoria.

Downtown Victoria is cute, but really only bars and pubs were still open at that hour. After browsing the quiet streets of closed shops and restaurants and visiting historic Chinatown, we went to Swans Brew Pub and tried a couple of their house brews.
